‘Etch and Catch’ event
The Livermore Police Department and partners are joining together for an event next week aimed to help some residents prepare to combat the scourge of catalytic converter thefts.
LPD, Las Positas College’s automotive department, Subaru and Toyota are hosting a free catalytic converter etching event on Tuesday (Nov. 29) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the community college campus in Livermore (on Loop Road behind Building 800).
“The event will help law enforcement track down owners of recovered stolen catalytic converters since catalytic converters are unserialized,” officials said. “If your vehicle’s VIN is etched onto a catalytic converter, it helps police identify the owner. Also, a thief can face charges for the stolen property, not just possession of suspected stolen property.”
The “Etch and Catch” event is first-come, first-served. Officials will also have information booths regarding catalytic converter thefts and prevention tips. To learn more, email [email protected] or [email protected]
Val Vista survey
There are only a few more days left to complete the city of Pleasanton’s online survey that seeks to gather public input on potential playground renovations at Val Vista Community Park.
The seven-question online survey is set to remain active until next Wednesday (Nov. 30). City officials are preparing recommendations for playground improvements at the park, located at 7350 Johnson Drive across the street from the back side of Donlon Elementary School.
