The special event on Tuesday saw elected fellows from 2022, 2021 and 2020 receive their moment in the limelight – recognising their outstanding contributions to science – and marked the first time the event has run in-person since 2019.
The fellows signed their names into the Charter Book and were formally admitted into the academy by its President, Professor Chennupati Jagadish.
The three-day event, which runs from Tuesday to Thursday, kicked off with admission ceremonies on day one.
Fellows elected in 2022 are giving presentations on Wednesday, followed by the Gala Dinner at the Great Hall of Parliament House where medals will be handed to awardees of the Macfarlane Burnet Medal, Matthew Flinders Medal and the Ruby Payne-Scott Medal.
Three award lectures will be given by awardees from 2020 and 2022 on Thursday, including the University of Sydney’s Professor Steve Simpson who has won this year’s MacFarlane Burnet Medal and Lecture.
Below are the University of Sydney awardees and fellows elected over the past three years.
