HANCOCK — Seniors Addie Budzinski and Brendan Christian have been selected to the CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District team for women’s and men’s soccer, respectively.
Budzinski is the second women’s soccer player to be selected. Christian becomes the first male athlete in any sport in school history to be honored.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be of sophomore standing and have at least a 3.50 cumulative G.P.A.
Budzinski closes out a strong career for Finlandia. She had three goals with two assists for eight points in 17 games. Budzinski helped the Lions to qualify for their fourth straight post-season tournament. She is the all-time Finlandia leader in games played (69) and second in goals (16), assists (17) and points (49)
Budzinski was a three-time all-conference selection, three time all-conference academic and was the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year this past season. She has a degree in Nursing and is working on a degree in Psychology. Budzinski has a GPA of 3.75.
Christian, team captain, has been a stabilizing influence for the Lions. He scored one goal with two assists for four points. Christian has been the leader on defense, blocking 17 shots and helping FinnU to have the third lowest G.A.A. in school history (2.06).
Off the field, Christian has been an R.A. at Finlandia, a two-time member of the C2C Academic Honor Roll and carries a 3.91 GPA in Accounting. He was the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year this past season.
