The Alerus Center will invest in one of the latest high tech gadgets designed to speed entrance into the building and increase security.
The so-called OPENGATE walk through metal detector allows patrons to pass through without having to empty purses and pockets of keys…coins…and other items.
The Events Center Commission has agreed to purchase eight of the units at a cost of $142,112 dollars. The weapon detection system has been used on a trial basis on a limited run within the building.
The new units should arrive in about 10 weeks.
